Sensitive Skin Saviour- Botanics Hydration Burst Hydrating Day Cream

Hi again!

I thought I'd just do a quick little product review today, as I've been completely impressed by this moisturiser and thought that it'd be great to share with any other ladies who have as similar skin type as myself.

When it comes to my face, to call it dry and sensitive would be an understatement! It seems to run in my family, but I especially find that a lot of cleansers, toners and especially moisturisers will break me out within a few days of use. Over time I've been able to whittle my routine down to a few reliable products that I always stand by, which normally keeps my skin in good condition, but trying something new is always a bit risky. Annoyingly, I've never been able to figure out which exact ingredient it is- I suppose it could be a few, but in any case I'm always on the lookout for a moisturiser that will nourish and soften my skin without being too rich and as a result clogging my pores, and aggravating my face.

After a couple weeks of use

When I first picked this up, to be completely honest, I didn't know what to expect. Having worked for Boots in the past, I was aware of the Botanics range, but had never actually tried anything from it. Looking back, products from this brand would have been ideal for my skin, especially in my past teenage years when breakouts and redness were more of a common occurrence. The core value of the company appears to be greatly focused on the fact that it's products are plant based, and rely on more natural ingredients as opposed to harsher chemicals. Although, looking at the ingredients, I was slightly surprised to see that there were a few chemicals and also fragrance within the product (listed towards the end of the ingredients). In this instance, it didn't cause any aggravation for me personally, but if your skin cannot handle fragrance at all perhaps steer clear.

At the time when I first started using this, I was just looking for a quick alternative moisturiser to  reverse some of the damage done by a previous one I had (unsuccessfully) trialed! My cheeks were getting progressively more red with each day, and I was developing some cystic acne around my jawline. After only about a week of using this, I noticed that my face had completely cleared up (minus one really annoying and unavoidable 'time of the month' appearance.) My skin tone has since gone back to as it is normally, and is far more even and reduced in redness, hurrah! What struck me the most about this moisturiser is how soothing the scent is, which I'm assuming is due to the 'Clary Sage.' The texture is thick but not greasy, definitely a gel formulation as opposed to a traditional cream. It sinks into the skin immediately, and feels very refreshing before applying your makeup. The fact that it is water as opposed to oil based is also preferable for sensitive skin like mine. Although it is technically a 'day cream' it doesn't contain any SPF (which is supposedly bad to sleep with on your face) and so I pop this on in the morning and at night. After a couple of weeks using it, I think it's fab, and though I can't guarantee it'll work for everyone, for only £5.33 for 50 ml I'd definitely recommend giving it a go! My next port of call will definitely be the 'dual action cleanser' which is in the same range, as I've heard some really good things about it.
