Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks
Sometimes life just puts you in the right place at the right time. For me, that happened to be at M&S a few weeks ago when I was out shopping and saw that they had a Stila counter in their cosmetic section. You heard me right UK ladies, Stila, as in 'Stila Stay all day Liquid Lipsticks.' I had no idea that M&S were now stocking higher end makeup, so of course I ran over (literally, I get too excited sometimes) to check it out. After scanning their selection, I picked up two shades, 'Dolce' and 'Patina.' They cost £16.00 in store and online, but that seems reasonable to me considering that it is a similar price to MAC. I've tried a few other brands of liquid lipsticks, such as Coloured Raine, Colourpop and NYX, and I was eager to see how these would compare, and whether they would offer the 'six hours of continuous wear' and 'weightless texture' the website uses to describe them.

Patina- a deep mauve |
First of all, I have to quickly mention how obsessed I am with the packaging. The mixture of matte and shiny gold makes for a really sleek and sophisticated looking lipstick. It appears that they have been repackaged, as the older versions online seem to just have a black lid, so a big thumbs up from me for that. Now for the product itself. I'm not going to beat around the bush here- they are without a doubt the best liquid lipsticks I've ever tried. Stila have nailed it in terms of formula, they're super matte, but comfortable at the same time! Normally, I just expect that a liquid lipstick will suck all the moisture out of my lips over time. I don't mind it, it's the price I expect to pay for choosing to wear a long lasting product. But with these, that's not the case. They do contain Vitamin E and Avocado Oil, and I could definitely tell the difference on my lips as the day progressed. The wear time might not be as long as other formulas, but I'd rather wear something comfortably for six hours and it still look nice at the end of the day, than have ten hours wear and a set of prune lips! I get a solid 6 hours without needing to reapply, but this will obviously depend on how often you're eating or drinking. Oily foods do break down all liquid lipsticks, so perhaps bear that in mind beforehand.

In terms of the two colours I picked up, I think that they're both gorgeous for different reasons. 'Dolce' is very unique in that it has tiny gold flecks of glitter running through it, and when you put it on the shimmer catches the light beautifully. 'Patina' on the other hand is a fair bit darker, and I personally love to wear mauve shades for an evening or a night out with slightly heavier eye makeup. I can definitely see why it has reached cult status, as it's a very universal colour. I'm not sure if this is because of the glitter, but I did find 'Dolce' to be slightly tackier in consistency when I put it on, and it took a little longer to dry down to a matte. However, once dried, they both wore the same.
