Lipstick Queen Review

I'm back! Uni has finished for the summer, and I'm so excited to get back into blogging regularly.
As the semester is over, and I managed to get through the stress of second year, I decided that it was time to treat myself, and what better way to do it then splash out on some new lipsticks!
I've had my eye on Lipstick Queen's products for a while now, as they seem to have a real cult following, and the ethos behind the brand really interested me. If you've never heard of Lipstick Queen before, it's a company founded by Poppy King- a cosmetic expert and lipstick connoisseur- hence her title as 'Lipstick Queen.' The company focus pretty much entirely on lip products, and they have every product and formulation imaginable in order to suit every woman. Also, they don't test on animals, so that gets a double thumbs up from me!
However, as gorgeous as their products are, at around £22 each, I had to limit myself to trying out two items. After a lot ofYouTube watching researching, I decided to go for 'Frog Prince' and 'Let Them Eat Cake.' So, if you're on the hunt for a worthwhile splurge, or just want to see what I thought of the lipsticks, here's my review!
Frog Prince- £22
Frog Prince, as the name suggests, is a green (yep, green) lipstick. Craziness, I know. But, it's not what you think. According to the product description, this is a PH sensitive lipstick that adapts to your own chemistry to create a 'flattering rosebud pink' that will be completely suited to you. You'll definitely get some looks when you pull it out of your handbag!
I was so impressed when I tried this on as it actually was a flattering shade of rosy pink for my fair complexion. The fact that it has Shea butter and Vitamin E meant that it glided on, and felt more like a lip balm than a lipstick. It has shine but this fades over time into a subtle pink stain that lasts for hours on me. As you don't need to apply this with a mirror to hand, it's ideal for day to day wear on campus, and I have a feeling that this will be in my handbag all the time for easy touch ups. I love it!
Let Them Eat Cake-£35
Aside from my Tom Ford Velvet Cherry Lipstick, this is without doubt the most extravagant makeup item I own. But, to justify this expense I have to say that I have been saving up for this, and is definitely a once a year (if that) splurge.
This shade is apparently modelled after Marie Antoinette's 'lavish' taste, and is a sparkly lavender with rose gold shimmer running through it. It is one of the most stunning shades I've ever seen; it actually reminds me of a more purple version of MAC's Angel lipstick. However, this is far more moisturising due to the ingredients. Also, it came in the most amazing pink fluffy case, which I'm definitely going to keep for display.
You can definitely feel the glitter particles when you put it on, which might be a deal-breaker for those who like a smooth consistency, but the visual effect of the lipstick outweighs this for me. It's the sort of colour that you could wear during the day if you like a super feminine and girly look, but I think I'm going to save it for special events like a night out or a wedding, purely because it is so expensive and I want to keep it for memorable occasions. Although we are in the midst of the matte lipstick trend, I think that these high shine, and shimmery formulations can be more flattering to the lips if you want them to look fuller and healthier. Don't get me wrong, I love a good liquid lipstick, but I think that both of these shades are perfect for spring and summer.
So, am I a fan of Lipstick Queen? Hell yeah, these products are amazing. They are some of the most moisturising lipsticks I've ever tried, and the quality is seriously impressive. I do appreciate that these are expensive, but if you're in the market for a luxe product, look no further.
