The Ride Or Die Makeup Tag
Hi lovelies,
I'm sorry for my lack of posts recently, the combination of writers block and a few summer holidays away from home has taken its toll on my blog.
After watching Jaclyn Hill's Ride or Die makeup challenge on YouTube, it really got me thinking about all of my favourite beauty products, and if I had to distill each category into one top product, what would it be? It was tough, but after a few hours of consideration I've managed to compile my list of ride or dies. These are the products that I wholeheartedly trust, and can rely on for a guaranteed good makeup day.
Without further ado, here are my choices!
MOISTURISER: Clarins HydraQuench Cream
I couldn't be without this moisturiser in the morning before I apply my makeup. It's perfect for dry skin, offering hydration without a greasy residue that helps my foundation to apply perfectly.
PRIMER: Bare Minerals Prime Time
When I can be in the mood to do this extra step, the Bare Minerals primer does a great job at minimising my pores and ensuring my makeup stays on all day. It's the only primer I've ever really enjoyed using.
FOUNDATION: Nars Sheer Glow (Shade Mont Blanc)
This was the hardest product to choose, as my beloved Bourjois Healthy Mix came in a very close second place, but overall it has to be sheer glow. I love the medium but buildable coverage it offers without getting cakey, it doesn't highlight dry patches, and lasts amazingly.
CONCEALER: Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer (Chantilly)
The perfect concealer for tackling everything. You can use it under the eyes, on redness, spots, and the coverage is perfect. The only downside is the price, and it seems to run out quite quickly, but as for the concealer itself, number one!
BRONZER: Nars Laguna
This has been my favourite bronzer for contouring for years and years. Even on my fair skin, it isn't too warm or muddy on the face, and can create subtle definition when used sparingly.
EYESHADOW PRIMER: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Potion
Not much to say on this one, it gets the job done and keeps my eyeshadows from creasing really well!
EYESHADOW PALETTE: Urban Decay Naked 2
This was so difficult, but the Naked 2 palette contains the most shades I search for on a daily basis out of all my eyeshadow palettes. I particularly love the shades Bootycall, Tease, Suspect, YDK and Blackout.
LIQUID EYELINER: Maybelline Master Ink Matte (black)
I don't really use gel, cream or even pencil eyeliners on a regular basis, purely because this liquid liner offers everything I want. It's super matte, dries quickly, and it isn't hard to get a sharp line. On the days when I'm feeling too lazy for liquid liner, I tend to smudge a black shadow along the top lash line for definition.
MASCARA: Benefit Rollerlash
I can totally understand the cult status of this mascara, as I've been using it for about 6 months now and never want to use anything else! If you're like me, and you want length and curl over volume, this is the mascara for you.
BROW PRODUCT: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade (Blonde)
As I have quite full eyebrows (for which I'm very grateful haha) I rarely use anything on them. However, if I want them to look particularly groomed this works brilliantly for evening out the shape.
FALSE EYELASHES: Eyelure Volume No. 100
I only wear false lashes on a night out, and when I do a subtle look is my preference. These are fluttery, feminine and offer really full lashes without looking obvious.
BLUSH: Nars Deep Throat Blush
I don't wear blush very often at all, but when my face needs a bit of colour and life, this is a really flattering tone on my complexion.
HIGHLIGHTER: Dior Amber Diamond
I first heard Tanya Burr rave about this product way back when I first started watching Youtube, so naturally I went out and purchased it. Although it's getting a bit old now, I cannot bear to throw it away as it's my favourite all time highlighter. It's bronzy, shimmery but not sparkly, just plain gorgeous.
LIPLINER: MAC Dervish
I love the formulation of the MAC liners, and Dervish seems to work well under every lipstick for some reason! It's very similar to my natural lip shade, but offers a bit of depth to any lipstick you put on top.
LIPSTICK: MAC Faux
I don't think there will every be a lipstick that can beat Faux. It's a satin, so lasts ages, and works with every eye look. It's nude but mauve at the same time, and looks put together without trying too hard. It's perfect.
LIQUID LIPSTICK: Colourpop Ultra Satin Lipstick in 'Alyssa'
Funnily enough, this is a very similar shade to Faux, but in a liquid formula. I love Kathleenlights and she nailed it on this collaboration with Colourpop. The texture is long wearing but not drying, and the colour is a stunning neutral mauve pink.
LIPGLOSS: NYX Butter Gloss in 'Eclair'
The perfect baby pink non-sticky lipgloss.
SETTING POWDER: Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot
This is my holy grail powder, I only recently discovered it but I love it so much! Mattifying but not cakey, and it minimises my pores.
SETTING SPRAY: MAC Fix +
The perfect 'setting' but not really setting spray for those who want to reduce the look of powder and create a dewy glow.
I think that's about it! Let me know if there's any products I need to try on your ride or die list below!
